1. Fixed salary

For the quantity of work they perform, employees get compensated. There is a set wage. An employee’s monthly salary is set, and you can manage your long-term spending accordingly. If you work hard, you will always receive your salary, and it even sets aside a portion for future investments.

2. Promotion

Furthermore, although promotion is not a given, full-time employees are always in a better position to advance more quickly than their part-time counterparts. Being a full-time employee has additional benefits. Employers view full-time workers as long-term investments. While promotions may seem simple, they need constant hard effort. Every time you get promoted, your salary increases as an employee.

3 Fixed schedule

Every full-time employee follows a set timetable for working hours. For a full-time employee, the typical schedule is 9 to 5, though this can be adjusted based on business requirements. Nobody can change your work schedule by calling you at the last minute. In other words, you can go about your day as you like.

Businesses give all of their workers stock perks, which include receiving shares of the business in exchange for a good job. 1. No flexible hours

First of all,  an employee is required to work fixed specific hours every day, and he is paid for that every month, an employee’s working hours cannot change. It is usually between 9 – and 5 depending upon different shift timings. Most time there is little or no allowance to pursue your your dreams outside the job circle 

2. Lack of Control

Secondly, employees have limited control over their work environment and the decisions made by their employers. Theirs is to wait on instructions and act on it. They must adhere to company policies and may not have a say in key business decisions.

Another important disadvantage is the fact that the salary of an employee is always fixed to the amount decided. Another important setback to consider is the fact that security is not always necessary in a job. There is always a high chance of getting laid off. Sometimes,  fresher or even experienced employees can be asked to leave the job as per company needs within a short notice span.

And when this happens, it causes emotional and financial strains on the part of the employees.

An organization with one or more owners and a shared objective is called a business. To define their company and make it stand out in the market, business owners need to develop a business model and a business plan. There are more duties involved in starting a business than in landing a conventional employment. The owner(s) of the business must possess expertise in marketing, finance, management, human resources, etc. to run it successfully. The owner of the company must also consider recruiting candidates who can work independently as well as in a team or group.

So which is better?

The choice between a job and doing business is not always the option of what is better, but not which you’re suitable for you at the moment. One can begin a job to get the necessary skill set and experience requisite to developing and starting a business in the future. A more balanced view 

Almost everyone who owns a business today was once an employee. It’s important to experience the two worlds. So by my rule of thumb, you must get your hands involved in someone else’s business, working for them, and with the right time, you make the transition into an entrepreneur yourself

Whether on a Job or a business, you can achieve your definition of success and fulfilment. Career Paths

There are three career paths for anyone intending to join the Nigerian Air Force. They include:

1. The Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC): Through the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC), which offers opportunities to both serving military members and civilians, you can join the Nigerian Air Force. This is open to degree holders who are professionals in their fields. Under this pathway, intensive military training will be done for 6 months and successful candidates will be commissioned to the rank of Flying Officer.
2. The Basic Military Training Course (BMTC): The Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) is the second route to enlist in the NAF.
   
   Candidates with at least a secondary school diploma, as well as those with an NCE, OND, nursing degree certificate, HND, or bachelor’s degree in related subjects, are eligible to apply for the NAF BMTC.
3. Regular Combatant: The last method to join the NAF is through the Regular Combatant Commission, in which successful candidates can either choose to join the Army, Navy or Airforce. After a 5 year intensive military training at the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), successful candidates can move on to become a Pilot Officer in the Nigerian Airforce if they choose to. This pathway is only open to Nigerians between the ages of 17 and 21.

Requirements for Application 

The general entrance criteria for recruitment into the Nigerian Air Force are described below

1. Only citizens of Nigeria are eligible to apply.
2. The secondary school results of interested candidates must have a minimum of five credits overall, with mathematics and English language requirements being met in no more than two sittings.
3. A minimum of two credits from their O’level results and at least a lower credit in their results are required for candidates who plan to apply with an ND or NCE certificate.
4. The Drivers/Mechanic role requires a minimum of two credit passes.
5. If you are applying as an athlete or sportswoman, then you must provide your medal and certifications also.
6. A military commander or your local government chairman must sign the attestation form for you, and he must attach his passport photograph properly signed at the back, plus a photocopy of his identity card. Any type of national ID card, voter card, driver’s license or international passport is acceptable.
7. The NAF recruits people who are at least eighteen years old and no older than twenty-five. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 28 to be considered for positions as chaplains, imams and their helpers, or drivers and mechanics.
8. Male applicants must be at least 1.66 meters tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.63 meters tall.
9. Candidates cannot have a criminal conviction or record.
10. Candidates must be in good health and have a certificate of health from a government hospital or health facility.
11. Applicant fitness levels must be high.

You may get the NAF application form at https://airforce.mil.ng/. To explore the most recent openings and apply for a job, prospective applicants may visit the Nigerian Air Force Career Portal. Online registration for DSSC and BMTC is now available through the site. 

Official registration for the 2024 recruitment opens in October 2024.

2. Fill out the application form and submit

Applicants may apply if they meet all admission requirements and possess the necessary qualifications. It costs nothing to fill out the application. 

Complete the biodata and necessary fields. Ensure that you fill out the application with all the necessary information. Upload all the appropriate documents requested online. Verify again, then apply.

Online applications must be completed within the allotted registration period. The application portal will close after the deadline has passed. To ensure you don’t lose out on the recruiting process, try to submit your application on time. Verify the deadline and make an effort to submit before it. The deadline is usually around November, but it may be different for each year.

3. Wait for the shortlist

5. Attend a training session

It is unacceptable to arrive late for a job interview. Bring your resume and make sure you are familiar with the contents so you can discuss it with assurance and provide examples.

If your job interview is online, you will still need to make adequate preparations to make a good first impression. To minimize technical difficulties during a video interview, test your video tool the day before. On the day of the interview, make sure you are prepared and in a comfortable, peaceful location, at least 15 minutes early. The best option is to grin confidently and project enthusiasm and engagement; you won’t have the luxury of a solid handshake or making eye contact with the interviewer.

It’s crucial to look the part, and a well-fitting suit is usually a safe choice. Your presentation shows how interested you are in the position and how much you care about leaving a positive impression.

4. Be composed

During the interview, give a firm handshake to every person you encounter. For improved posture during the interview, choose to sit on a chair rather than on a sofa. 5. Be truthful and authentic

This is a serious red flag, and it will cause your interviewer to doubt your professionalism and believe you would do the same to them. 2. Never misrepresent information

Respond to inquiries honestly and as concisely as you can. Describe and explain aspects about yourself that are relevant to the job being offered and accurately represent your prior experience. When you are being questioned about something that is not one of your strong points, be truthful, and let the interviewer know that you are open to learning more about it and how you can improve your knowledge of it. After that, mention any advantages you may have in a different field.

3. Don’t interrupt the interviewer

Being a good talker and listener is equally crucial. It demonstrates your maturity and adeptness in social situations. When your interviewer is talking or asking you a question, never interrupt them. Wait for them to finish before talking. He or she won’t have time to listen if you don’t.

Accept accountability for the choices and deeds you commit to. This will show that you are a responsible individual and will take account of your mistakes in the workplace. 

9. Avoid coming off as materialistic or desperate

Acting as if you would accept any job or that you need work is not appropriate.

Avoid conveying the idea that an organization’s location is the primary reason it interests you. Avoid coming off as a salary-focused person and wait to inquire about compensation and perks until the employer brings it up. 

10. Do not be too humble

Your moment to shine is during a job interview. Talk with confidence about all of your noteworthy accomplishments and abilities. However, you should avoid bragging.
