This article is strictly for parents who wish to take Waec, Jamb or both Waec and Jamb to further their Education.

If you are in any of the categories above, then be happy because I am about to provide answers to most of the questions that bother you.

Reasons Parents Further Their Education

As a dad or mom, there are many reasons why you may want to go back to school. Let’s see the common reasons why parents further their Education and why you should do the same:

You were denied the opportunity to go to school when you were younger.

You are going back to school to acquire skills for a better job.

People have been intimidating you because you are not a graduate.

Your husband wants you to go back to school

You need it for a good job or to retain your current job.

Lower risk of unemployment

It has always been your dream to go back to school. Now, you want to go back to school as a personal fulfilment.

You dropped out of school earlier for reasons, and you want to go back.

You want to be a great example to your children. You want them to learn from you and to understand that education is important.

How To Pass Jamb Or Waec To Further Your Education As A Parent

Where do I start from? I have not been attending classes. This is the biggest question of every parent who wish to go back to school. Some even feel that their head can no longer carry book.

The truth of the matter is that Waec is not as difficult as you think and Jamb and is not as deadly as you were told. Even as a dad or mom, you can pass both.

Here comes another important question, how can I pass Waec and Jamb to further my education here in Nigeria? Follow the steps below:

Learn Time Management

Get Required Materials

Choose Your Study Location

Private Tutorials if Necessary

Follow Up Jamb Latest News

Read My Articles On Jamb Success

Contact me

Follow my tutorial series

a. Learn Time Management

Time is the biggest asset given to us by God. What you do with time determines your level of success and achievement in life. Time is not a handset but an asset.

One major feature of a parent is responsibilities. You just have a whole lot of things to take care of. You need to work, take care of your husband/wife and as well take care of your children. In summary, you don’t have time.

However, you need to create time. If you must further your education, you need to create time for studies. There is no shortcut to success (Unless you are paying someone to take Waec for you).

b. Get Required Materials

The following are materials you need to pass Waec or Jamb. You really need them. You may want to click on any one for more details:

AidTheStudent Jamb Questions

AidTheStudent Waec Questions

Get recommended books

Jamb syllabus for all subjects

Subjects you need to study your course

Waec subject combination

AidTheStudent Waec and Jamb series

How to study for long hours

c. Choose Your Study Location

Now that you have created time and gone through the resources you need to prepare for Jamb 2021 and Waec, the next thing you should do is to choose study location. For effective study, choose a place best conducive for you.

d. Private Tutorials If Necessary

Since it’s been long you finished secondary school or dropped out, it may be necessary to get someone who will put you through.

I won’t advice you to attend public tutorials as a parent. If you can’t read and understand on your own, meet a neighbour, mentor or pay someone to lecture you.

e. Follow Up Jamb Latest News

Information is the key. Since you have made up your mind to write Waec and/or Jamb, you need to stay updated on the latest Waec and/or Jamb news. Know when registration is starting, when examination is starting, how to register and so on.

Jamb date and everything you need to know

Waec date and everything you need to know

f. Read My Articles On Waec & Jamb Success

I would have gone ahead to explain how to pass Waec and Jamb in details. However, it will be a repetition. I have already dedicated some articles to explain how to pass Waec and neco. Trust me, they will further help you pass your exams. Check them out below:

How to pass Waec

How to pass Jamb

How to pass jamb in two weeks

How to read for Jamb

g. Contact Me

If you still want to get in contact with me one on one for more guide, I am here for you. Click here to get in touch with me.

Best School To Attend As A Mom Or Dad

In this case, I will advise you not to attend any University or Polytechnic that is very demanding unless you are going for a part-time programme.

You may be wondering, how do I know that a school is very demanding? It is not far fetched. Most Top Federal and State Universities are very demanding. Try a school that is not very demanding or competitive.

Recommended Course To Study As A Parent

A mom called me few days ago that she wants to study Pharmacy in UNILAG. I was actually against it. However, she insisted that God is on her side and she can do it.

The truth is, there are courses you shouldn’t study as a parent. Not because you are dull but because they would require too much from you.

Professional courses like Medicine, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, etc are very difficult to study. Since you all you want is to get the degree, why not find a simple course and study? An decent ART or Education course would do.

Part-Time Or Full-Time Programme?

As a parent, whether to go for a part time or full time programme depends on the nature of your work.

If you are self employed and has a whole lot of time to attend classes, full time programme is recommended because you will graduate earlier.

For a mother whose children are still under four years, you can’t leave them and be going for classes. They need your care. In this case, part-time programme is recommended for you.

Also, as a woman whose husband wants to further her Education, full time programme is not bad for you.

Some persons call it “Biscuit“, some even refer to it as “help“, some call it “bomb“, a few say it is “chukuli“, majority call it “runs“ and others called it “expo“. These are terms for exam malpractice in Nigeria. The rate at which students engage in examination malpractice in Nigeria has assumed a gargantuan proportion.

There is malpractice in almost every exam in Nigeria. From Universities to Secondary Schools to Colleges of Education, the West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), Junior Waec (BECE) and more. Thanks to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for drastically reducing malpractice in the system.

The rise of exam malpractice in Nigeria can be traced to 5 categories of persons. The Five Sets of Persons sponsoring malpractice in Nigeria are The School, The Exam Body, The Government, The Home and The Student. In this article, I will be introducing you to these sets of persons and how they are responsible for malpractice in Nigeria.

The School

The school is a citadel of learning. It is a place where students are supposed to acquire sound knowledge to blast examinations like Waec, Jamb, Universities exam, aptitude tests and more.

Instead of achieving the above, the school has changed its purpose to feasting on malpractice which they are supposed to be fighting against.

Note: This doesn’t change the fact that there are still a few schools in Nigeria with integrity.

10 Ways Schools Sponsor Malpractice in Nigeria

Not preparing students adequately for the exam

Accepting money from students in exchange for answers

Encouraging teachers to solve the exam questions

Paying invigilators to allow students cheat in the hall

Giving admission on bribe and not on merit

Low-quality teachers. Many school teachers can’t even pass these exams

Failure of schools to cover the syllabus

Teachers favouring some candidates in the hall

Teachers selling questions to students before the exam date

Selling low-quality books to students.

The Exam Body

The Exam Body refers to boards and institutions conducting examinations nationwide. The exam bodies also include supervisors sent to invigilate exams. The high rate of misconducts in examinations can be traced to these persons.

8 Ways Exam Bodies Sponsor Malpractice

Making exam questions leak before the exam day

Invigilators accepting bribe from school and students

Invigilators solving exam questions for students

Failure to reward brilliant students

fail to penalise persons caught cheating.

Poor conduct of examinations.

Selling questions to certain students

Accepting payments in exchange for a high score.

The Government

The Government is a group of people with the authority to govern a country or state; a particular ministry in office. The Nigerian Government has failed the Educational system and has contributed to exam malpractice in the following ways:

7 Ways Government Sponsor Malpractice in Nigeria

Poor educational facilities

Lack of proper attention to conducts of exams

Poor or no incentive to best performing students

Inability to provide jobs for graduates making them not to see reasons to be serious

Poor incentives to teachers

Inadequate training of school teachers

Failure to provide stable electricity to boost learning in schools and at home.

The Home

Home here refers to Family. The home is responsible for training students in the way they should go; Charity begins at home. If the home which is supposed to serve as a foundation to students is destroyed, the students become helpless.

Note: Some homes have actually done their best.

8 Ways Home Sponsor Malpractice

Not speaking against exam malpractice

Not encouraging students to read

Going to schools to pay so that students can be allowed to cheat

Registering children in miracle or special exam centres.

Parents are not raising children right or to have integrity.

Not able to afford quality education for their children

Not paying attention to students academic history and performance.

Parents and family members telling students that they can’t pass the exam on their own.

The Student

The student here refers to all candidates in Nigeria sitting for one examination or the other. Students have also failed the system and play a major role in examination malpractice. The truth of the matter is that students enjoy malpractice more. Some students are actually serious but are still forced into malpractice.

9 Ways Students Sponsor Malpractice

Bad reading attitude

Not reading outside what is taught

Saving money for exam runs instead of buying books

Not taking the examination as a priority

Choosing to register in special exam centres

Sneaking phones into the examination hall

Ignoring parent ideas and accepting charity from society

Lovers of comedy and dirty things than academics and serious things

Lack of confidence in their ability.

How AidTheStudent is Fighting Malpractice in Nigeria

Video Tutorials for Students.

Complete Academic Guide for Parents And Students

CBT Applications to enhance assimilation.

Free Online CBT Quiz Platform for all Students.

Free Discussion Forum and AidTheStudent Classroom.

In general, society is responsible for malpractice in Nigeria. Hope you found this guide helpful? Feel free to share with others and don’t fail to let me know how you feel using the comment box.

How would you feel as a Parent or Guardian seeing one of your child’s Teacher with Tinted hair? Should Teachers Tint Hair to School or you think Hair Tinting is absolutely Unprofessional for Educators?

This question was raised in a concerned Parens and Teachers group I belong to. While some parents and teachers think it is unprofessional for school teachers to tint hair, others feel it is Fashion. Continue reading for numerous opinions…

Note that Hair tint differs from hair dye in the sense that the tinting process adds an extra layer of colour to your strands while dying gives uniform colour to your hair.

Opinions On “Should Teachers Tint Hair”

Sodiq On Hair Tinting for Teachers

It is very funny how some people here ascribe tinted hair to being fashionable as a teacher. So you mean to tell us that teachers must tint their hair to look cute and trendy. Western Education is not only affecting the youth, it affects adults as well. If your pastor or iman tint his hair green what will you say? Imagine a Nigerian professor with blue hair. When we begin to see normalcy in abnormality as teachers then we have a problem.

Jennifer On Hair Tinting for Teachers

It’s only in Nigeria that you see people argue over things like this. In foreign country their hairs are not all of the same shade or color..some have dark hair and they go ahead and tint it to blonde. Nobody complains. But in Nigeria, hmm our inability to embrace change will always stand as a barrier. I’m a teacher and I can tint my hair to school.

Caleb On Hair Tinting for Teachers

If you call yourself an educationist and yet dress and make anyhow hair. You’re directly abusing your role as a mentor and role model. That position deprives you of some things you want to do but can’t due to the sensitivity of the job as future builders and not destroyers.

Omirin On Hair Tinting for Teachers

I had my hair tinted during the lockdown and I had a very nice time rocking it. Immediately school resumed I cut it off and now I am on low cut. My proprietor, proprietress or my school administrator didn’t ask me to cut it off but deep down I just knew I didn’t have to rock that to school. #LetYourConscienceLead.

Oluyemisi On Hair Tinting for Teachers

You are a teacher doesn’t automatically translate to a shabby dresser. We should always remember that. A teacher could tint her hair if she wants. Just be moderate and not tacky that’s all.

Patricia On Hair Tinting for Teachers

What happened to not judging a book by it’s cover? Because she tints her hair does it make her less of an educator than a stern bun wearing, thread- making, makeup-less individual? We really need to change our ways of thinking

Dada Omodolapo On Hair Tinting for Teachers

What’s wrong with hair tint? What’s the overall look. Cooperate and responsible? If yes, then I don’t think it’s a deal. Sometimes we just want to explore with our look. Nothing else

Oluwaranti Ayeni On Hair Tinting for Teachers

It’s actually funny that many people are pretending to have forgotten that some professions have their dress code in the name of being woke.

Even in higher institutions, some departments have a dress code based on the nature of their profession.
A teacher is like an automatic role model for his or her students. As they are growing, they are picking different attitude from everyone they come in contact with. And a place or a people where children spend most of their time don’t just have a great influence on them, but they are major factors in forming their personality.

If bankers that deal with mostly adults are given a dress code, why shouldn’t people dealing with young people be conscious of their dressing?

ere are Opinions from Parents and Guardians (names withheld) on reasons siblings fight at home, whether it is normal for school children to fight at home and steps to make your school children stop fighting.

Take It Easy on your Children

Don’t worry, only they will settle it by themselves and for themselves when they come of age. It’s normal amongst siblings at a very young age. Just keep educating them on brotherhood/togetherness and love amongst siblings. They will outgrow it, talking from experience.

In fact, very funny my sons can’t play together for more than 20 minutes without fighting because the age difference is just a year 3 months.

There was a day I settled quarrel, that day shouted and taught I have developed high blood pressure the following day I went for check-up and the doctor said nothing happened to me that the result is normal since then I stopped disturbing my self and if anyone of them is not around the other one will not be okay.

I now realize that is normal especially if they are boys they can fight themselves for Africa. May we mothers reap the fruits of our sweat.

Preach Love To Your Kids

After talking to them about love and not finding fault, as soon as you close your mouth you start hearing mummy warn Gina o. you begin to wonder, is it normal?

They would fight over everything but let one fall sick or travel you will know how they love each other. The major thing I do is I don’t take side. I scold them equally Then give task to do together.

Your Kids Don’t Hate One Another

Is it that they hate each other? Obviously No. Forget it, they love each other, let someone else try to fight one of them, then you’ll know they love each other. They’re just being kids, with time they’ll change.

They all fight, it’s normal and within a few minutes play has started again. Upon they fight, they always protect and support one another. If you want to punish one of them, the others will beg and even try to cover up.

I just finish settling them. They fight at any slight opportunity. But if one is not around, the rest will be crying that he should come back now. The incessant fight is common among same-sex. Too many boys or girls.

They love each other that’s why they fight. However, always listen to the cause of every fight and cash in on the opportunity to talk to them about loving themselves and always looking out for themselves.

Your Kids Learn From You

They may have copied from neighbour or parents. Daddy and mummy should be their example. So many children grew up “fighting”, but when you say they can’t stay together for 10mins without fighting, then I think there is something that’s not right. Daddy and mummy, you need to be their first example in the way you live. They are watching you too.

Teach Your Kids Apology

You have to start now before it’s too late. Talk to them as adults, make both of them apologize to each other after telling them the reasons they should not fight.

And tell them to report to you and not to take action by themselves. In the end, tell them to give each other a big hug. Do this even when they didn’t fight and you will see the changes.

Ignore The Fights Sometimes

Don’t shout at them every time. Sometimes, Pretend you didn’t hear them fight (on the occasion that the fight is not serious), Go inside your room, Lock the door, relax, come outside, Cook, Call them to eat. And you will all live fine happily ever after. Take that from a mother of three boys aged 16,12 and 10.

Use Cane if Necessary

Don’t let anyone pretend or deceive u, even if u like preach for them from now till tomorrow, they will only calm when they see your face but will continue in your absence. It is normal, be calm & talk to them, then put a little fear in them. Use cane on them when needed as the bible says. They will outgrow it.

Give Instructions No One Should Violate

You only give instructions that no one should violate…..YOU MUST NOT FIGHT, NO MATTER WHAT. WHETHER I AM AROUND OR NOT. Thereby, they will learn to tolerate one another. It works in my home till now, even when they are grown.

Tell Them Stories, Children Stop Fighting

My 2 boys fight over everything, I took it first, no me, stand up, I sat here 1st, drop it, is it your own, go away, I came here 1st, I want to check something give me the remote, am watching something, change it, No I want to watch this, leave it, I want to use it, don’t touch it, you are not using it now, am not giving you, give me now, why did you touch it, I said it 1st, remove your leg, oh my God.

I talk to them, I pray with them, I teach them bible stories and all that, in fact, am planning on taking one to boarding school for JSS.

Make Sure Your Kids Eat Together

Make sure they eat together, share things and read together. Call the eating together ” a love feast”. After their quarrel tell them to apologise to each other and hug themselves. Very important. It works. My children are so friendly even now that they are grown up.

Prohibit the Use of Certain Words

You didn’t start it from the beginning. In my house, saying ‘I will slap you ‘is prohibited. Likewise any other dirty words. They report issues. Work on them with the scriptures.

Teach Them To Watch Out For Each Other

Ask them to take food to each other from the kitchen – like when you finish cooking, you can call any one of them any day to come and take the food and give to his/her brethren.

It could be clothes, tell one of them to go and pick the clothes of the other person from the line because it’s about to rain. This way, you’re indirectly teaching them to be compassionate, love and always watch out for each other.

Fiction And Real Life Stories

You thought it is only you, my three girls fight always at any slightest things, especially the two senior ones, and they settle in and begin to play again.

Sometimes, I watch the show, only for the funny ones but I always intervene for the serious ones, there is nothing you and I can do about it. I have my own ways of educating them about sisterly love and family as a whole, friction stories and real-life stories and it is now working for me.

They will be the one to remind me sometimes about FAMILY EDUCATION, I try as much as I can to create topics in each session every weekend. It is not easy to train and guide children whether boys or girls.

Give Them Equal Punishments

When my children were younger, I give them equal punishment. The one crying and the one who made that one cry and the one who was watching all the things happening.

Then, when I am scolding one of them, I make sure I look for something to rope the others inside the matter. That way, next time they assist each other so as not to fall victim.

Because at the end of the day, they are all affected. It is also with praises. Also when I share things among them, I give them equally. And they all know that they are the special same way to me. I have no favourite.

Quarrel between husband and wife is not just something I have read or watched on Television. It is something I have experience. When I was a kid, my parents use to quarrel almost all the time and it really hurts me back then.

It is normal for you to have a misunderstanding with your husband or wife. However, it is not a good idea to quarrel and fight in the presence of your children. It does a whole lot of harm to them.

Research shows that those who grew up in homes with high levels of conflict usually have more physical health problems, emotional problems, and social problems later in life.

Let’s look at the top 7 ways fight between you and your husband or wife can have negative effects on your kids. Are you ready?

1. Emotional Effect:

The first attack of fight and quarrel between parents is on the emotional nature of a child. Your children get deeply emotional when they witness such fights.

Some children express their emotions through crying, screaming or some children don’t. They keep quiet, tolerate the situation, pretend to be strong while in their minds they are screaming their lungs out.

Both situations are severe in their own ways. One can assume that they can get along with such situations as time progresses, but that is a very wrong assumption. A child cannot forget the expressions, words, gestures of her/his parents when she/he had witnessed them fighting.

This emotional imbalance affects their health, too. If I speak for myself, for example, I constantly think about these things and as a result, I cannot sleep at night. Insomnia is depressing and hectic. It affects the energy level of a person, it gets one fatigued all the time.

Recommended: 20 questions to ask your kids after school

2. It Affects Their Confidence Level:

Another problem that occurs due to fights between husbands and wives is that a child lacks his/her confidence level. Severely. It just drops down exponentially.

Somehow, a thought enters her/his mind “Are ‘they’ fighting because of me? Should I do something about it?”, while these aren’t the things which s/he should be thinking about at any age.

It just kills them inside because, even if they are willing, they CANNOT do anything. Such emotions of helplessness, restlessness are just disastrous for a child’s mental and physical health.

3. Quarrelling Affects Your Children’s Education:

How can your children focus when you are not giving them peace of mind? The mind of a child witnessing chronic parental fights is always preoccupied with the fights and arguments.

This makes it difficult for him to concentrate on tasks at hand, adversely affecting academic performance. Such an overworked mind can also pave the way to physical ailments and chronic illnesses.

Recommended: How to help your kids do well in school

4. They Won’t Be Comfortable At Home:

This was sooo me. Since there was no peace at home, I would prefer to stay back at school after closing or somewhere away from home.

Outside gives more rest of mind that a home where quarrel and fight is the order of the day. The more your children stay outside, the more your relationship with them get cold.

5. Impacts Their Personality:

It is not that parents don’t realize fighting in front of kids is bad, and many of them try to make amends in whatever ways they can think of.

However, the effect of these fights is like leaving footprints in clay there is no undoing once the deed is done.

Children who grow up watching their parents fight all the time tend to develop personality traits like bullying, escapism, compulsive behavior, inflexibility, and can be very difficult to get along with. This affects not only their personal but also their professional and social lives.

6. Insecurity:

A home is a child’s haven of love and care. Parents fighting in front of kids results in chaos and tension, leaving the child frightened, anxious and helpless. This feeling of insecurity can last a lifetime.

7. Low Self Esteem:

Insecurity and feelings of guilt and shame can make your little one feel unwanted and unworthy. This, in turn, results in low self-esteem which can be permanent and damaging in his long-term personal and professional relationships.

Children generally want to please both parents, and the pressure to take sides in a conflict can be distressing for them. They might not understand the basis of the conflict and take a side that might blow up the conflict to even bigger proportions.

It is important to note here that a lot of times this pressure to take sides comes from the parents themselves, which is rather unfortunate. Children should never ever be made the point of an argument, nor should they ever be pulled into an argument and made to take sides.

Conclusion:

There are things that are normal to do in marriage. However, some of these things should not be done right before your kids. A perfect is fighting or insulting your partner. Please don’t destroy your kids emotionally and academically.

As a parent or guardian, what you leave for your children is not as important as what you leave in them. Your kids are made by the quality of discussions you have with them.

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article on how to help your children succeed academically. There have been a whole lot of positive reactions from parents about the write-up. You may want to click here for the full gist.

If you are still wondering about the best conversation to have with your kids after school, then continue reading because you are at the right place. Don’t fail to ask your children the following questions after school:

How was your day?

Hope you are fine today?

Tell me something good that happened today.

How many subjects were you taught today?

Which subject did you find more interesting?

Who made you sad in Class?

What kind of person were you today?

Are you okay with your seat or you want to change?

What made your teacher frown at you?

Did anyone threaten you?

If your teacher had $500 to spend on the classroom, what do you think she would buy?

What rule did you almost break today? Why didn’t you break it?

What made your teacher laugh?

Who is the funniest person in your class? Why is he/she so funny?

If you could change one about your day, what would it be?

How many did you score in your previous assignment?

Did you take your launch?

Tell me any new thing you learnt today?

Who did you sit with at lunch?

Were you given homework today?

Let’s find out the importance of each of the questions above…

1. How Was Your Day?

As a dad or mom, it is very important to know if your kids had a good day or a very bad one. He or She may have forgotten to share experience in school with you; don’t fail to do so.

Asking your child the simple question, “how was your day?” would give you a general overview of how his day went. This is also a clear sign that you care about them. Your kids will feel happy to know that you really care about them.

2. Hope you are fine?

Another important question you should learn to ask your kids after school is, “hope you are fine?” Don’t assume that all is well, go to the well to confirm if it is actually well.

You need to always know whether they are fine or not. As a matter of fact, your child might be going through secret challenges. Asking whether he or she is fine might go a long way to reveal what the issue is.

3. Tell me something good that happened today.

The world is changing at the speed of light. Yesterday’s reality is different from what is happening today. Remarkable things happen daily.

When your kid is happy after school, it means something good happened. Ask them to tell you anything worthy of note that occurred. Simply ask, John, can you tell me something good that happened in school today?

4. How many subjects were you taught today?

It is very important for you to know whether your kids are learning or deliberately playing in school.

Ensure to ask them the number of subjects they offered and the free time they had. This will test their level of seriousness, as well as the standard of the school they attend.

5. Which subject did you find more interesting?

This is where passion comes in. You should start taking note of the subjects your kids like and the ones they don’t.

Does he/she love calculation subjects and hate non-calculation ones. Would he/she be better as a science or an art student in the future? These are the questions you should ask.

6. Who made you sad in Class today?

Nothing hinders learning like fear and sorrow. You should always ask to know if there is any pupil who always makes your kid sad in class.

If there is, then report to the school authority or change the sitting position of your child if possible (Even if not possible, make it possible).

7. What kind of person were you today?

This question is to know the mood swing of your kid. It is very good to know the mood of your kid at every instant. Know what makes him/her sad and what interests him/her.

Care about your kids and work hard to make them better persons in the future.

8. Are you okay with your seat or you want to change?

Are you okay with your seat? Is your seat very far from the board? Do you hear the teacher very well during lectures?

If your Kid answers NO to the above questions then it is time to fight for a change of seat. Change their seat as fast as possible.

9. What made your teacher frown at you?

Sometimes our kid exhibit certain behavior that makes teachers get angry.

You need to know why the teacher was with your kid and work towards matter them better and law-abiding children.

10. Did anyone threaten you?

Bully is the beginning of hatred for school. When your kid suddenly loses interest in going to school, then a red button has been pressed.

Make sure you know if they were threatened by anyone in school and do everything within your ability to resolve the issue.

11. Were you given homework today?

Your child should come with homework every day. If he suddenly stops doing his assignment then something is strong. Ensure to check his workbook to know if he/she is being given standard homework.

12. Need of the class

If your teacher had $500 to spend on the classroom, what do you think she would buy? Ask this to know the need of the school/class to know how you can be of help.

13. Breaking Rules

What rule did you almost break today? Why didn’t you break it?

14. What made your teacher laugh?

You need to know the sense of humor of their teacher. Ask, what made your teacher laugh today?

15. Interaction

Who is the funniest person in your class? Why is he/she so funny?

16. Their Regrets

If you could change one about your day, what would it be?

17. How many did you Score?

This is a perfect question to ask your child after school. Here, you need to measure the academic progress of your kids. You need to know whether they actually submit homework and if they are getting it correctly.

18. Did you take your Launch?

Ask if they took their launch… If yes, ask if they enjoyed it and who they sat with at lunch. If No, ask why they did not take it. Also, try to find out the kind of food your kid loves to take in school.

19. Tell me any new thing you learnt today?

A good school should teach your kids new things everything. If they are not learning, then they are not growing.

Ask your child to tell you new things that he/she learned in school. Remember, it is what your kids have in their head that will take them ahead.

20. Who did you sit with at lunch?

Ask your kids after school, who did you sit with at lunch? This will enable you to know the kind of friends your children keep. Make your kids are hanging out with the right set of persons.

You may be wondering, how do I know if my kids are making the right choice of friends? It is very simple. Whom they follow determines what follows them.

When your kid begins to exhibit certain strange character/habit, watch his association. Make sure your children are in the right company. Bad communication corrupts good manners.

If you have ever wondered how to help your kids succeed in school, you are at the right place. Your children are about to experience a better academic performance.

Let me begin by saying that Charity begins at home, not in the house.

We all want the best for our children ; want them to achieve what we could not achieve in our time. But action needs passion or it will be sanctioned. To achieve this, you need to put in some work; get ready for work.

Help Your Children To Do Well In School

Below are the five ways you can be involved in your children’s education. Do not forget number four (4).

1. COMMUNICATION:

Communication is one of the best ways to help your children succeed academically.

You should know how they are feeling and what they need. Don’t be too harsh to them.

Only God knows what we hide from you just because we are afraid to tell you. We know doing that might be another ‘World war!’.

These are the things that eventually turn out to harm us. Learn to have a strong relationship with your children. Relationship is like having relations in a ship. Your exit might just be the beginning of ship wreck.

Call them and ask them questions once in a while have a parent-to-child talk.

Ensure they are in peek condition in order to learn. Do “collabo” with them.

Read Also: Questions to ask your kids after school

2. ENCOURAGE THEM:

Encouraging your children is another way to get them excited about their academics.

Reward their academic performance. Of course, this is going to make them try harder in the future.

If you don’t seem to care then they will be less likely to themselves. Give them hope.

3. LEARN TO TOLERATE YOUR KIDS:

When you discover that they did not perform well in a particular term/semester, do not class them as failures because it will kill their morale. Rather, let them see reasons why they should do better in the future.

After all, failure is just an event. With this singular act, you will be amazed how they will improve.

4. SURPRISE THEM:

When you surprise them once in a while by buying them gifts or taking them out, they will in turn surprise you too.

This is because for every action, there is an equal reaction. This reaction in this case might be boosting their academic performance.

SEE: How to read and Understand

5. SPEAK INTO THEIR LIVES:

You don’t see words but they control you. The quality of the words you speak into their lives will go a long way to determine the kind of life they will live in school.

Your words can either shape or destroy their future. So cultivate the habit of speaking words into their lives.

Remember: Telling yourself the truth is honesty but telling others is integrity; if you have not done your part, then don’t complain.

Be a model to your children. But if the foundation is destroyed, what can the children do?
